Ypres, so much more than WWI

Ypres, a global symbol of WWI remembrance, but there is so much more. Its history spans eleven centuries: Cloth city. Medieval metropolis. Fortified city. Bishop city. Military city. Destroyed and rebuilt city. Cats’ city. Peace city. Westhoek city. The Yper museum shows all this in the brilliantly renovated Lakenhallen. Callebaut Architecten and FVWW did a marvelous job on this project, combining modern a modern techniques and materials with the historical aspect of the building.
